Straight answers to the questions I get asked most. Do not see yours here? Reach out and ask me directly.
How do I get service started?
Call or text me and we will set up a time. I do not have a storefront anymore, so everything runs by appointment. Drop off, remote, or I come to you. If it is urgent, tell me and I will get you in same day when I can.
How do I cancel or reschedule?
Just call or text me directly. No portal, no phone tree. You talk to me and we find a time that works.
What area do you cover?
Dalton and the surrounding areas. If you are a little outside that, reach out anyway and we will figure it out.
Are you really available after hours and weekends?
Yes. Call, text, or email any time. I do not keep banker's hours. I might not pick up at 3am, but I will get back to you fast.
Do you offer remote support?
Yes. A lot of issues do not need you to unplug anything or haul a tower across town. I can remote in, take a look, and fix plenty of it right there.
Do you do house calls?
Yes. If it is easier for me to come to you, I will. That works well for home networks, business setups, and anything that is a pain to move.
What payment methods do you take?
All the major ones. I run payments through Wave, so whatever it covers, you are good.
How long will it take to service my PC or laptop?
Depends on what is wrong. A lot of stuff I knock out the same day. Bigger jobs, or parts I have to order, take longer. Either way I keep you posted. No guessing.
What is included in the free consultation?
I look over your device, find out what is actually going on, and tell you your options. If it needs a paid repair or a deeper diagnostic, I give you the number before I do anything.
What is included in the comprehensive diagnostic?
A full hardware and software workup to find the real root cause, not just the symptom. When it is done you get straight repair or replacement options that make sense for your situation.
Do you work on Apple and Mac products?
Yes, and I am certified for it. Apple gear, Windows machines, laptops, desktops. I handle all of it.
What types of services does NERDS PC offer?
A wide range. Virus and malware removal, operating system and software installs, hardware repair and upgrades, custom PC builds, data recovery and backup, laptop screen replacements, and more.
How does the PC build service work?
Pick your parts from what I recommend, or bring your own. We spec it out, I build it clean and test it, and I let you know when it is ready for pickup.
Can I bring my own parts?
Yes. If you already have the components, I will assemble it, cable manage it, and make sure it posts and runs right. Assembly starts at $100.
How does the warranty work on a build?
Short version: lifetime labor warranty from me, and parts are covered by their own manufacturer warranty. If a part fails on its own I pull it, handle the RMA, and ship it back at no charge to you, with the maker covering return shipping. Full details, including what I do and do not support, are on the
warranty and support page.
Why are full build prices not listed on the site?
Parts prices move constantly right now, especially memory and GPUs. A hard number listed today would just be wrong next week. Starting prices are on the shop pages, and I quote each build for real when you are ready.
Can you still build a gaming PC for $500?
Yes, but I will be honest with you about it. At $500 you get something that games, but there is not much room to upgrade later. I build for the long haul. Parts that last and a platform you can grow for years. The cheap build is fine to start, you will just hit a wall sooner.
I am a small local business. Is AI even worth it for me?
Look at the jump from landlines to smartphones. Once you had a phone in your pocket, you did not have to sit at a desk to run your business anymore. AI brings that same kind of freedom to office work. It answers common customer questions instantly and sorts your inbox by priority. Ignoring these tools means spending hours on tasks your competitors finish in minutes.
Will AI replace my employees?
No. The point is not to get rid of your people, it is to take the boring repetitive work off their plate so they spend time on the things that actually need a person. Done right, it learns how YOU run your business, not some generic version of it.
Is my business data kept private?
That is a big part of how I do it. I can set you up local, on your own hardware, so your data stays your data and stays under your control. It learns how you do YOUR business, and none of it has to leave your shop.
How do I know if my business is ready for AI?
That is exactly what the AI Readiness Assessment is for. I come out, look at how you actually work, and tell you where AI fits and where it does not. No hype, no pressure.
What can you print, and in what materials?
Most materials are on the table. Cost varies with the material you need and how complex the design is, so it is quoted per job. Tell me what you are after and I will give you a real number.
Can you recreate a part if I only have the broken one?
Most of the time, yes. I can design it from the part you have and print a replacement. Custom design work is not cheap though, it is hands-on time at the keyboard. Design labor runs $165 an hour, and I give you an estimate up front.
Do you do prototypes or small production runs?
Yes. Prototypes and short runs are their own thing, so reach out and we will talk through exactly what you need.
